Lineless Eye-Con Commission for :icondraithen: of Christoff, the western dragon!

Phew!  I'm super excited about how this piece turned out.  I learned sooo much, oh man.  This was quite the challenge, mainly those scales and just the process of reteaching myself lineless art again.  I tried some different layering techniques that I think helped a lot, and am eager to work on future pieces in this style, one of which is in my queue currently. ;)

Check my front page for links to Commission Information and availability.

Thanks, Draithen!  Hope ya like!

Greetings! What a nice surprise greeted me in the morning! Wow!

This is so awesome. Anyone who reads this should know that Christoff is a really old, thoroughly designed and highly detailed veteran character of mine, and I presented a buttload of requirements for this picture. I have to say, TwilightSaint managed to fullfill every single one of them. Everything is just in place. The details are amazing.

It feels so alive. I would not be so surprised if he would take a blink or start to look around. The texture of the sclera and the iris feels so vivid, I can imagine it coming alive. For me, his gaze looks so deep. Full with impressions like seeing-through-all, calmness or even menacing threat at the same time.

And let me tell you about the scales that encircle the eye socket. They give me a feeling of a huge, massive, rock hard head. He is a big, well armored, tough dragon, and this picture manages to give back that feeling. The little scales that line his eye feel so delicate, yet still tough to offer protection.

And let's talk about the light! You did a really good job capturing the light shining from the eye. I especially love the color shifting on the scales and the metal plates.

And finally, I am really happy you offered me the lineless technique. It turned out so great. Thank you. This one is going to be one of those pictures that are really important to me! <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=":) (Smile)"/>
