This is my entry for 's 'Chinese Ice Dragon' contest. I will also enter this in 's New Year's contest. And also 's New Year's contest.
HELL YEAH, BABY.
The harbinger of the new winter's Year of the Dragon, the Imperial Ice King returns from his celestial cycle, welcomed only by the highest monk himself.
He's a traditional Long, but with icy colours, sharp horns instead of antlers, and SIX, count 'em, SIX wings! YES, Long dragons CAN and DO have wings! Not only is this proven in traditional Chinese legend, but I have SEEN dragon sculptures WITH WINGS at the Terra Cotta Warrior exhibit in Washington DC! (Take that, people who draw sparkly, big-eared weasles and then claim to be dragon-experts. Pah.)
Not only all of that, but as the Long go, they can be as small as a silkworm to as large as the sky...this guy is roughly mountain-sized.
Also, if you haven't noticed, the appearance of a large, all-powerful deity before the tiny worshipper is a favourite theme of mine. Particularly when the tiny worshipper, as due her posture, is open, excited, and actually taking part in the Divine. Not that this dragon is God, but y'know. XD
Also rocking my new and epically improved style. The lighting effects and icy halos are beautiful too...
Note that his halo also houses a snowflake...and he himself is holding an ice crystal...
