So I've been thinking a lot about the Planetary Dragons I did for that contest a while ago - this guy (and gal) might go in one shortly, as well, but I haven't gotten that far yet.

Anyways, these two are just the bare scratches of the surface of the whole Solar System series to come. (Oh no...that just opened up galaxies and stars and crap...oh man...) :3

~~~
Three Things You Should Know About This Picture:
1 - Don't get on me about the whole 'omg Pluto iznt a planet anymoar!' I oppose that whole deal. XD
2 - Don't get on me about the whole 'omg there r two dragons!' If you like astronomy like many people do, you'll know that Pluto has a moon - Charon - almost the size of the planet itself, therefore dubbing itself ' Pluto's twin', or 'Bride' as I like to call it.
3 - There's a spider on your back.
~~~

So yeah. :D

I decided to make them a bit more alien-like - since Pluto is kind of out there...literally. Sort of sharp and isolated and...almost icy, considering they're flying around, like, in the Quiper Belt. O.o Rocks and ice, man, rocks and ice.

Though I think my favourite part is the background - all those stars... I really wanted to keep it rather stark - different from my other Planetary Dragons - since they're at the far reaches of the Solar System and all. I kept the sun just that tiny speck of light - the single star in the sky that keeps everything in balance, even beyond where our eyes - and imagination - can take us.

*insert audience 'ooohhh, aaahhh' here*

Enjoy! :D

Pluto is still a planet, it's just a dwarf and dwarfs are people too
:iconapixelateddream:
it is officially not a planet.
like tomatoes are officially vegetables.

so, y'know. grain of salt and all that. :/
:icontwilightsaint:
Agreed, sir. :nod:

it's okay, pluto. i'm not a planet either. ):

*clears throat* ANYWAYSSS~~

YESSSSSSSSSS.

i kind of love how you turned pluto into the masquerade ball mask from hell and then put it into the faerie machine. i don't know how you quite managed that, but yeah it's pretty much awesome.

i have to admit in this picture, i'm definitely choosing pluto over charon. his dark blue crest and his colorsss especially on his legs and his tail and his badass jaw. excuse me, i have something in my eye. *picks out hearts*

so, uh.
*clears throat*
sparkles.

ps. johnathan coulton is the bomb.
COMPLETELY UNRELATEDLY, I FOUND THIS SONG TODAY.
just thought it was rather appropriate. :0

pps. i would have lol'd so hard if you went for this method with all the dragums. this would've meant... what, 63 extra dragons for your jupiter image?
:iconapixelateddream:
noooooooo. D:
the closest metaphor i can come up with is comparing a grey wolf to a siberian husky. sure, they're close in nature, but they also have some differences that separate them enough to not have them clumped together.

(THAT DOESN'T CHANGE THE FACT THAT PLUTO NOT BEING A PLANET CRUSHES ME. CRUSHES.)
:icontwilightsaint:
._. Neither am I. *huggles Pluto*

Oh yeah. I'm good at things like that, aren't I? I guess...I'm sort of a mad scientist in that way. XD

But Pluto is purposely flashier than Charon - he's the planet after all. I was debating making Charon the one flying at the screen and having Pluto to the side and roaring - though much bigger - but I like this better. Pluto is finally getting his revenge for getting kicked off the train. *le sigh*

I know.

ORLY.
*checks it out*

Oh, day-um. Don't worry, I already thought about that. :faints:

Yeah, but still. Pluto is a large enough mass and has a definite enough orbit to be considered a planet. It's not necessarily 'embedded' in the Quiper Belt, otherwise it'd probably have a nice round...orbit...thing...HELL, it'd be more of a chunk of ice than it is already. :X

( *joins in being crushed* )
