The next part of the '2011 Planetary Dragon Series,' the Magellanic Cloud Dragons! *applause*

First observed in the 10th century by the Middle Eastern astronomer as-Sufi, the Magellanic Clouds are close neighboring dwarf-warped-beat-up-chewed-up irregular galaxies that kind of drift around in the outer fringes of our Milky Way. Relatively young, they are very gaseous (what's with all the gas references lately?) and lack many of the metals abundant in our home galaxy.

The two of them are visible to the naked eye primarily in the Southern Hemisphere, and are seemingly not very far apart. While they are respectively called the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds, the larger of the two is actually about double the size of its little bro. To spiff things up even more, the Large Cloud hosted a SUPERNOVA explosion in 1987. :3 (You guys know how much I looove supernovas. X) )

Their warped and 'irregular' appearance is due partly in both of them being caught in the fringes of our interstellar wings kicked up by the spiralling 'arms' of the Milky Way, but they are also incompletely formed due to their young age and the 'heirarchy' of the cosmos. Sooo...the Milky Way would be like my grandad and the Clouds would be like a couple teenagers banging sticks against his cast iron fence.

Instead of making the Large Cloud, like, twice the size of the Small Cloud, ('cause that'd be awkward,) I made them look more like siblings just kind of floating around in space together. 'Cause that's what they do... Float around...in space......together...
